This historic tavern was so interesting. We learned that a lot of commonly used phrases today stem from that time period. "Mind your P's and Q's (pints and quarts)!" Drink like a fish, get off on the right foot, and so on. This was a "proper tavern" and they were spaced every 50 miles. Men slept together in one room, maybe 5 strangers in one bed. "Sleep tight" means you had to tighten the ropes underneath the mattress. This tavern was a lot of fun. It's amazing to me that they let us walk around at all in these seventeenth and eighteenth century buildings!
